OUR STORY

Intenergy USA was founded nearly 20 years ago by three individuals: Steve Rivera, Alex Bozzo, and Judy Taylor.

Steve and Alex were close friends as well as avid exercise and health enthusiasts. At the time, Alex owned a couple of retail supplement stores in Carolina, Puerto Rico. He shared with Steve some of the industry's secrets: most supplements don't work. This is largely because many supplement companies use non-FDA-approved manufacturers and low-quality ingredients—all in the interest of cutting costs and increasing profit margins.

In some cases, companies don’t even include ingredients that address the issues their supplements claim to target, relying instead on marketing and the placebo effect.

This didn’t sit well with Steve. Knowing that diet and nutrients play a significant role in a person’s health, he began studying ingredients, their effects on the body, and how they interact with one another. After extensive research, he developed his first product—Biomen. He enlisted Alex and Judy to help bring both the product and the company to life.

Eventually, Steve found a top-quality manufacturer. However, he was initially met with disbelief and even laughter—they told him he was using too many expensive, high-quality ingredients and recommended he remove some to increase profit margins. But Steve knew better. He believed his formula would deliver real results, and that if given the choice, customers would prefer products with all the beneficial ingredients included.

Alex unexpectedly passed away one evening while leaving the gym. His death deeply impacted Steve but also became a powerful source of motivation. Determined to honor Alex’s memory, Steve continued developing new products and expanding into more stores.

Then, on September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, creating a humanitarian crisis. Many were left without electricity or running water. With a large portion of its customers based in Puerto Rico, Steve and Judy expected business to slow down, knowing that people would need to prioritize essential needs.

But something remarkable happened: not only did customers continue to buy, the business grew larger than ever. The customers knew the quality of the products and believed in them just as much as the product’s creator did.
